ELIZABETH CAMERON
The Artist – Born Sydney 1938
Received standard Public School education then entered the nursing profession. Later became engaged in animal husbandry, in particular breeding and management of stud Hereford cattle. A keen sportswoman in the areas of tennis, netball, basketball, alpine skiing and horse riding.
Basically a self taught artist, rekindling school year's art successes after coming to live on the Monaro in 1972 in the Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales. She became entranced with capturing the essence of the Monaro and the Snowy Mountains. During this time she painted as B. Grosvenor and operated "Kunama Galleries" at Jindabyne East with husband, Alan Grosvenor. This resulted in a permanent ten-year continuous exhibition through 1980 to 1990. Whilst better known for oil painting she has also worked in watercolours, acrylics, pen and wash and pastels.
Studied briefly under Michael Johnson (b.Sydney 1938), Michael Taylor (b.Sydney 1933) and Rod Willams in Wales whilst on an art study tour of the U.K. and Europe in 1985. Held many joint exhibitions from 1974 to 1980. Works are held in private and diplomatic collections in Australia, United Kingdom, U.S.A., West Germany, Holland, Austria, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Norway, Spain, and Switzerland.
